23 Apr – After working on last year's highly successful "The Lego Movie" and "22 Jump Street", directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller return to helm an animated feature of "Spider Man". The news was confirmed by Tom Rothman, chairman of the Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group, at the recent CinemaCon, Cinema Blend reports. Spidey will be going back to his animated roots, and who better to head the project than Lord and Miller, who also helmed 2009's "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" and wrote its 2013 sequel. The duo will also be busy working on the upcoming "Lego" sequel and spinoffs. The animated "Spider Man" movie is set for release a year after Sony's joint venture with Marvel, the live-action "Spider Man" which will swing into North American cinemas on 28 July 2017. The joint venture will see the web-slinger joining the Marvel Universe, as he is already set to make his debut in 2016's "Captain America 3: Civil War". Expect to see animated "Spider Man" on the big screen on 20 July 2018.
