Male leads for "Star Wars: Rogue One"

(L-R) Sam Claflin, Riz Ahmed and Ben Mendelsohn are all eyed to star in "Star Wars: Rogue One".

26 Apr – Sam Claflin from "Snow White and the Huntsman" and "Nightcrawler" actor Riz Ahmed are both being eyed to play key roles in the "Star Wars" spin-off, "Star Wars: Rogue One", while Ben Mendelsohn of "The Dark Knight Rises" will reportedly join the cast as well.

The two possible male leads along with Mendelsohn are set to join the only confirmed cast of the film, Felicity Jones, The Wrap reports.

Though it is still unconfirmed what role Mendelsohn will play, presumably it is not a lead character.

While talking to Collider regarding his possible involvement in the film, Mendelsohn said; "I've been led to believe this, quite strongly. No one is going to be more thrilled, if that turns out to be the case, than me."

Directed by Gareth Edwards, the film is set to take place between the events of Episode III, "Revenge of the Sith" as well as the original "Star Wars" film, "A New Hope", and the plot will centre on a band of resistance fighters who unite for a daring mission to steal the Death Star plans.
