7 Oct – In conjunction with the recent grand launch of TGV Cinemas Vivacity Kuching, moviegoers are given the chance to watch movies for free at the cinema! "The Mermaid", "Independence Day: Resurgence" and "Central Intelligence". Since the cinema is also the first ever location in East Malaysia to feature the IMAX hall, two of the blockbusters – "The Jungle Book" and "Independence Day: Resurgence" – will also be screened in the IMAX format, giving movie fans the chance to experience the large-film format without charge.
A grand launch ceremony was also held yesterday at the cinema, attended by the likes of Yang Berbahagia Dato's James Chan, Mayor of Kuching; Leong Wai Hoong, Chairman of TGV Cinemas, Walt Cho, Director of Marketing and Distribution, Asia Pacific of IMAX Corporation; and more. Leong stated that the cinema will be "the ultimate destination for movie lovers and entertainment seekers in Kuching". Echoing the chairman's sentiment, Dato' James Chan also stated that the new cinema complements his city and that it will be a "fantastic family treat to Kuching".
With 8 halls and a seating capacity of 1196, the cinema also features the Beanie hall, which has large bean bag seats; Family Friendly sessions, perfect for parents with little kids; and Chill*x, which offers food such as burgers and milkshakes.
