"Deadpool" is getting a sequel

"Deadpool 2" is coming!

10 Feb – The first solo outing for comic book character Deadpool has yet to officially hit the big screen, but it seems that a sequel is already in the works.

"Deadpool", which has started its sneak screenings at cinemas, will see Ryan Reynolds reprising the titular role, which he first portrayed in 2009's "X-Men Origins: Wolverine".

The merc with a mouth is part of the X-Men ensemble, which 20th Century Fox owns the rights to.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio has already greenlighted a follow up script written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who also scripted the first movie.

It is not determined yet whether Tim Miller will be back to direct the sequel but Reynolds will definitely be donning the red suit again.

The actor has said this will be the last comic book character he will portray. However, it seems like this won't be the last time for him to play Deadpool if the success of the upcoming action comedy will spawn more than the one already-planned second movie.

"Deadpool" follows Wade Wilson, a former Special Forces operative who undergoes a rogue experiment that changes his life drastically. With accelerated healing powers and a mentally unstable mind, this antihero with a twisted sense of humour hunts down the man who did this to him.

The movie will enter North American cinemas with an R rating but will be toned down for countries such as Malaysia and Singapore, where there are stricter regulations for movies.

"Deadpool" sneak screenings are now showing at cinemas before its official release on 11 February 2016.
