14 Dec – The trailer for the eight instalment of the "The Fast and Furious" saga, "The Fate of the Furious", is now the most viewed trailer in 24 hours on YouTube. According to Deadline, the trailer broke the previous record held by the upcoming Emma Watson starrer "Beauty and the Beast" trailer which racked up 127.6 million views during its first day of release. Now, the eight edition of the gripping racing action thriller takes over the record with a magnanimous 139 million views in just 24 hours. Deadline reported that Universal debuted the trailer along with its cast members such as Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson in a historic fashion in Times Square, New York City. It was simultaneously played on over 33 digital billboards including the Big Kahuna billboard, which is the largest digital screen in the U.S. at 30K square feet. The huge success of the trailer would further hype up the already highly anticipated movie, as if the performance of the trailers are anything to go by, then the movie will certainly match the hype. "The Fate of the Furious" will see a mysterious woman, played by Oscar winner, Charlize Theron, seducing Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) into the world of crime he can't seem to escape and a betrayal of those closest to him. The movie also co-stars Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Elsa Pataky and Kurt Russell with new cast members Scott Eastwood and Helen Mirren. Directed by Gary Gray ("Straight Outta Compton"), the film is expected to vroom into theatres in April 2017.
