"Kabali" successfully collects RM12 million in a week

The Malay version of "Kabali" was also screened in several other countries.

4 Aug – The phenomenal Tamil movie "Kabali", starring superstar Rajinikanth, has collected RM12 million after one week of screening in Malaysia.

According to the Malaysian co-producer of "Kabali", Datuk Abdul Malik Dashtigeer, sales of the ticket is still going strong in the country.

"The ticket sales alone has already achieved RM12 million so far," he said to Bernama.

When asked about the collection of the Malay version of "Kabali", the producer was unable to provide an exact amount as the movie was just released in local cinemas last Friday.

Nevertheless, he believes that it will also receive a positive reception from all races especially from the Malay audience, as it is the first Tamil movie to have been dubbed into the Malay language.

Abdul Malik also noted that the Malay version of the movie will be screened in 48 cinemas in countries such as Indonesia, Thailand and China by end of this month.

He added that many among the audiences prefer the Malay version more as it has a different climax compared to the original Tamil one.

Shot in several locations in Malaysia, "Kabali" also stars popular local actors like Datuk Rosyam Nor, Norman Hakim and Zack Taipan.
