28 Jan – Malaysia's very own director and writer Jess Teong has been awarded for the Best Writing category at the recent Macau International Movie Festival. The movie that won her the award is "The Kid from the Big Apple" which tells the story of a child from New York being sent to live in Malaysia. The film that was entirely shot in Malaysia took home four awards in total for Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Writing and Best Newcomers. "The Kid from the Big Apple" which premieres in Malaysian cinemas on 10 March 2016 is also the official finalist of the 2013 New York Screenplay Contest and the 2014 Hollywood Screenplay Contest. "I write stories from the heart that people can relate to. I am blessed to have a great team and I am proud to say that they are the key to my success.
