Mamat Khalid worked 18 years for his upcoming flick

Mamat Khalid announced a stellar cast for his upcoming film, "Pasir Salak".

26 Dec – Acclaimed Director, Mamat Khalid had revealed that it took him 18 years to complete the required research for his latest epic "Pasir Salak".

The film tells an inspiring story on the uprising of the Malay community against the British rulers back when Malaysia was still under the ruling of the Westerners.

"I am actually fond of the Malay history, and Pasir Salak was one of the subjects that I am ever interested in because it has many stories that can be highlighted."

Speaking to mStar, the director told "Ever since 1998, I have been researching on Pasir Salak and it took me years to collect the rights details and facts."

"As it's a historical film, I wanted to make sure that the facts are all right before I proceed," added Mamat.

According to the "Hantu Kak Limah Balik Rumah" director, his upcoming entertainer got the support and cooperation of the National Film Development Corporation (FINAS) and the state government of Perak.

Meanwhile, the 53-year-old director also expressed that he is looking to bring to screen the lesser known Malay heroes of the infamous Pasir Salak siege by the British.

Other than the acclaimed director, the stellar cast of the movie also contributed to its hype as the movie co-stars Datuk Rahim Razali, Datuk M. Nasir, Datuk Ahmad Tarmimi Siregar, Hasnul Rahmat, Khir Rahman, Nam Ron, Bront Palarae and Soffi Jikan.

Filming for the movie is expected to start next year with a budget of around 5 Million.
