29 Sep – There's a new horror-thriller in the making and it is set to be helmed by a Southeast Asian director.

Filipino director Yam Laranas will be making his return to Hollywood through the upcoming movie, "The Wanting".

According to Coconuts Manila, the "Sigaw" director was revealed to have been trusted to direct the horror-thriller, starring "The O.C." actor Adam Brody and "Silicon Valley" actress Amanda Crew.

The movie reportedly is an adaptation of a short story written by Gin de Mesa and Laranas himself, which tells of an all-American couple who find their dreams of starting a family shattered as they struggle to survive a threat in their New England neighbourhood.

Filming has recently begun in Toronto, Canada.

While the director has been busy filming in the Philippines, this isn't his first Hollywood rodeo, having directed the 2008 American horror movie "The Echo", which is also the remake of his Filipino horror movie "Sigaw".
