"Munafik" has now made RM15.4 million


Will "Munafik" be able to reach RM17 million? Let us wait and see.

21 Mar – Syamsul Yusof's latest horror movie, "Munafik", continues to achieve success as it manages to collect RM15.4 million after just three weeks of showing in cinemas.

The good news was revealed by the movie's producer, Datuk Yusof Haslam, who also extended his gratitude to the audiences.

"Syukur Alhamdulillah, audiences' response to "Munafik" has been extraordinary. For now, we have added a few more halls. Originally, we asked FINAS for 90 halls when we applied for screening.

"From 90 to 112, and in the second week it was added to 117 halls, and in the third week a few independent cinemas in Sabah and Sarawak also requested for it, making it a total of 120 halls now," said the producer to Berita Harian.

Previously, "Munafik" caused a phenomenon when it managed to collect RM2.4 million after just 4 days, before increasing to RM4.3 million (7 days), RM8.5 million after 11 days and RM11 million after two weeks of showing.

Following the movie's ongoing success, Yusof Haslam is confident that the movie helmed by his son will be able to make a collection of RM16 million.

The movie tells the story of Adam, a Muslim medical practitioner who is unable to accept the fact that his wife is no longer in this world. When he agrees to treat a woman named Maria, strange and unsettling things start to happen.

"Munafik" stars Nabila Huda, Pekin Ibrahim, Fizz Fairuz, A Galak, Datuk Rahim Razali and Syamsul himself.
