2 Feb – Chiu Keng Guan's "Ola Bola" continues to succeed while not only receiving positive remarks but also managing to collect RM 2.5 million after only 4 days of screening in 126 cinemas all over Malaysia and Brunei. "The film not only talks about football, but it also focuses on the passion and unity that is visible in Malaysia." "It also has a storyline that is suitable for anyone and everyone," says Chief Operating Officer of Astro, Henry Tan. Henry added that the film that took inspiration from actual events during the glory days of the Malaysian football team with the efforts to qualify for the Moscow Olympics in 1980 is sure to make the audience reminisce the 80's through the depiction of costumes, hairstyles, carnival fair and the stadium at the time. Henry also thanks the thousands who have watched the film and supported it by sharing about it to their family and friends. The good news is a double win for the "Ola Bola" team as the film will also be shown at the upcoming Taipei Fantastic Golden Horse Film Festival from April 8 to 17. The success of "Ola Bola" is Astro Shaw's third film and the second direction by Chiu Keng Guan that is receiving a massive response, where before this "The Journey" and "Polis Evo" each collected RM 17 million.
