21 Nov – After being eligible to be nominated for prestigious international accolades namely the Golden Globes and the Oscars, local film "Redha" has now won the Best Film award at the Anugerah Skrin 2016 (ASK 2016). In an interview with EH!, the director of the film, Tunku Mona Riza exclaimed that she was really shocked to have to won the award as she realised that the subject of her film is much more different from the rest. ""Redha" is my first film, so it will always have an emotional connection with me," added Riza. The telling tale starring Namron, June Lojong, Nadiya Nisaan, Remy Ishak, Izzy Reed and Harith Haziq, narrates the story of a couple who are struggling to raise their autistic child. However, the movie was only an average hit amongst the general public, making a box office collection of RM500, 000. Other than winning in the Best Film category, the movie also won another award via Namron for Best Male Actor at the Anugerah Skrin Awards 2016 (ASK 2016). Prior to this, "Redha" had received many awards including Best Female Actress for June Lojong, Special Festival Prize for Humanism in Film at the World Premieres International Film Festival Philippines, Special Prize by The President of Tatarstan for Humanism in Cinematography, Special Prize Award by the Russian Film Critics Guild and also an award for Ensemble of Actors for the Best Male Actor (Namron, Harith Haziq and Izzy Reef) at the 12th Kazan International Muslim Film Festival, the Merit Award at the Los Angeles International Film Festival and the more recent, Discretionary Jury Award-Courage in Storytelling at the 2016 Asian World Film Festival.
