14 Dec – The most exciting time for "Star Wars" fans is here once again, especially for those who got to experience the launch of the new TGV Cinemas Sunway Velocity Mall which held the Malaysian premiere of "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" yesterday, 13 December 2016.
Launched in conjunction with the latest offering from the Space Opera franchise, TGV Cinemas' 34th location to date is home to 9 halls, including two Indulge halls and the biggest IMAX hall in the country.
With a total seating capacity of 1,638, the IMAX hall has 287 seats where 40 of those are Indulge seats - TGV's luxury seating option - thus making it the first IMAX to include the special seating option for their patrons.
The cinema at Jalan Cheras, Kuala Lumpur also encompasses a cafe which is inspired by Planet Tatooine's Mos Eisley Cantina featured in "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope", which naturally, made it the perfect place to host the "Star Wars" event.
"We are dedicated to make TGV Sunway Velocity as the pivotal hub for movie-lovers and entertainment seekers. This multiplex will be our home for future immersive, cinema experience events," said Mr. Gerald Dibbayawan, the Chief Executive Officer of TGV Cinemas Sdn. Bhd.
Strong with the Force were members of the Star Wars Malaysia Fan Club (SWMFC) who came dressed up in full gear for photo taking opportunities and to add flair to the event.
Guests were served with various "Star Wars" themed delicacies and a selection of mocktails and cocktails curated by KL Cocktail and Co at the Cantina.
The festivities for "Rogue One" will take place from 15 to 31 December 2016 where moviegoers can experience the "Star Wars" drinks at the pop-up Mos Eisley Cantina, take photos at the "Rogue One" photo booth and other activities which will allow them to win movie tickets.
Disney's "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" opens in cinemas nationwide on 15 December 2016. The standalone "Star Wars" film directed by Gareth Edwards starring Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Jiang Wen, and Forest Whitaker is set before the events of "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope" (1977) and follows the events faced by a group of unlikely heroes who are on a mission to steal plans to the Death Star, the Empire's ultimate weapon of destruction.
