15 Dec – Legendary Pictures has announced the official titles for their upcoming science fiction monster films, "Godzilla" and "Pacific Rim". The new "Godzilla" movie is titled as "Godzilla: King of the Monsters" whereas the sequel to Pacific Rim is titled "Pacific Rim: Uprising". This was according to ComingSoon, which reported that Legendary subtly announced these titles as a part of press release in announcement of the hiring of new production executives for its company. The creators of "Pacific Rim" went for a generic title for their sequel, but "Godzilla" steps back in time as the 1956 American release of the Japanese "Godzilla" film was also the same name. Michael Dougherty who wrote the screenplay for '"X-Men: Apocalypse" is set to helm "Godzilla: King of Monsters". Meanwhile, the robotic monster movie has gone through a quick transformation as director Steven S. DeKnight ("Daredevil" series) made a change to its previously announced name of "Pacific Rim: Maelstrom" to a more comprehensible "Pacific Rim: Uprising". The movie will also star "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" actor John Boyega as the lead instead of the previous lead, Charlie Hunnam ("Sons of Anarchy"). But fans can catch the Monsters vs Robots battle first before the Man vs Monsters battle as the former will be released on February 2018 with the latter scheduled to be released on March 2019.
