16 Feb – Alejandro G Inarritu's "The Revenant" was the clear winner at the 69th British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) taking home five awards. Leonardo DiCaprio who bagged the Best Actor award, paid a moving tribute to his mother and thanked his co-star, Tom Hardy for his brilliant performance. Brie Larson won the Best Actress award for her performance in "Room". 88-year-old legend, Sidney Poitier was awarded the BAFTA Lifetime Achievement Award. The iconic actor was too ill to attend but still gave an acceptance speech through a video. "Today my cup runneth over because I am here with my daughter and the future filmmakers of the world in celebration of this wonderful art form. To my family, my life force, I am nothing without you. And all of you, thank you for your warm embrace and this extraordinary moment and memory I shall cherish." As the event coincided with Valentine's Day, BAFTA did something out of the ordinary by setting up a 'Kiss Cam' which saw couples such a Fassbender and Vikander lock lips and less likely pairs such as Maggie Smith and Leonardo DiCaprio playing along.
