11 May – Martial arts and action movie fans will be excited to know that a Bruce Lee biographical film is already in the works and has been set to begin shooting this July-in Malaysia! Titled "Little Dragon", the film will be a contemporary dramatisation of Lee's life in 1950s Hong Kong that eventually leads him to being one of the most popular martial arts stars and most significant modern philosophers of all time. According to Variety, the biopic will also include themes of family, friendship, romance and everything in between. Indian filmmaker Shekhar Kapur will helm the film as director and executive producer. Kapur has previously directed the Oscar-nominated biopics "Elizabeth" and "Elizabeth: The Golden Age", so it's safe to say that Bruce Lee's biopic is in good hands. Lee's daughter, Shannon Lee, will produce the movie under her family's Bruce Lee Entertainment banner together with Convergence Entertainment. "I always thought that a film about how my father's life was shaped in his early years in Hong Kong would be a worthwhile story to share so we could better understand him as a human being and a warrior," Shannon said. The film is in its pre-production stages, casting directors are currently searching for an actor to play the teen-aged Bruce Lee. Since filming has yet to begin, a release date hasn't been announced.
