12 Aug – Nick Jonas will be facing off against Tom Holland in the film adaption of Patrick Ness's best-selling novel "Chaos Walking". The Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter has been cast to play Davy Prentiss Jr., a young soldier who is fueled by jealousy over his father's mentorship of longtime rival Todd Hewitt (to be played by Holland), according to The Hollywood Reporter. "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" star Daisy Ridley is also part of the cast, alongside Mads Mikkelsen ("Rogue One: A Star Wars Story"), Demian Bichir ("Alien: Covenant"), and "Sons of Anarchy" creator Kurt Sutter. The young adult post-apocalyptic trilogy book tells the story of Todd Hewitt who lives on a distant planet of the New World, where all women have been killed by a virus, while the remaining males are able to hear each other's thoughts through a maddening stream of conscious referred to as "The Noise". Hewitt then discovers that there is one girl left surviving, Viola (to be played by Ridley), who could hold the key to the secret of the New World. "Edge of Tomorrow" director Doug Liman will be directing the movie from a screenplay adapted by Patrick Ness, Lindsey Beer, Gary Spinelli, John Lee Hancock and "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind's" Charlie Kaufman. The film will be produced by Allison Shearmur, Erwin Stoff and Doug Davidson. Lionsgate has set "Chaos Walking" for release in March 2019. Jonas previously starred in the Audience series "Kingdom" which just concluded its final season, and can be seen next in "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" opposite Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart.
