6 Jul – Young, aspiring Malaysian filmmakers can now start submitting their applications for the 3rd Young Filmmakers Workshop, which will be taking place next month in Kuala Lumpur. The call for submissions was launched recently by the National Film Development Corporation (FINAS), who invites local filmmakers of 21 to 26 years old to join the workshop. Interested participants have until 22 July 2017 to submit their applications. The following conditions must be met to be eligible for the workshop: - Nationality: Malaysian - Born between 1991 – 1996 - Experience in making at least 2 short films or documentaries - No disqualifications for overseas travel - No experience in any of the programs from Busan International Film Festival – Asian Film Academy The link for the application form can be found on FINAS' official Facebook. Selected participants will attend an intensive and in-depth 9-day training that covers different aspects in film production including directing, scriptwriting and editing. Renowned mentors from Southeast Asia's filmmaking industry will be mentoring the participants. Two of the most promising participants from the workshop will represent Malaysia at the upcoming ASEAN-Republic Of Korea Film Leaders Incubator: FLY 2017 program, happening from 20 November to 3 December 2017. FLY 2017, which aims to nurture future leaders of the Asian film industry by discovering aspiring talents from 10 ASEAN countries and Korea, will be held in Indonesia.
