"Avengers: Infinity War" sets biggest opening weekend in Malaysia


"Avengers: Infinity War" sped past the record previously held by "Fast and Furious 8".

2 May – "Avengers: Infinity War" has officially set the record as the movie with the highest opening weekend in Malaysia.

The movie opened in Malaysian cinemas on 25 April and over the weekend has managed to collect RM32.95 million, based on The Hollywood Reporter stats.

The latest Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) instalment has edged out former record holder, "Fast and Furious 8", which broke the record last year with its RM27.5 million opening weekend collection.

News of it breaking the all-time opening weekend record at the local box office was first revealed on MCU Tweets' twitter account.

Aside from Malaysia, the movie also successfully broke the opening weekend records in countries such as Indonesia, Thailand, Korea, Philippines, Brazil, South Africa and more.

Worldwide, "Avengers: Infinity War" has so far collected USD725.5 million against its USD400million production budget.
