Brie Larson's Captain Marvel will be joined on set by three previously-known MCU cast.
28 Mar – "Captain Marvel" has officially begun shooting in Los Angeles, with three new cast members announced who are no strangers to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Clark Gregg, Djimon Hounsou, and Lee Pace, who once played Phil Coulson, Korath the Pursuer, and Ronan the Accuser respectively, will return to the MCU to reprise their roles in the Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck-directed movie, as announced by Marvel.
Clark Gregg, Djimon Hounsou, and Lee Pace will reprise their roles in "Captain Marvel".
The fictional characters of Korath and Ronan were last seen in 2014's "Guardians of the Galaxy", where fans have heavily criticised the lack of depth and backstory given to the two villains.
With "Captain Marvel" centering on the Kree-Skrull War, this would be an opportunity to learn more about both characters and their ultimate decisions to defect from the Kree Empire, a scientifically and technologically advanced militaristic alien race.
Meanwhile, the return of Phil Coulson to the big screen is a major addition, considering he has not been in any other MCU movies after his appearance in 2012's "The Avengers" despite still living in the canon TV series "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.", which is currently in its fifth season.

Other cast members who are confirmed for the upcoming 2019 movie include Brie Larson as the titular character, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, McKenna Grace, and Jude Law.
Set in the '90s, "Captain Marvel" follows Carol Denvers, a United States Air Force pilot who eventually turns into the superheroine known as Captain Marvel and has to stop a galactic war between two alien races.
"Captain Marvel" is scheduled for an 8 March 2019 release date in North America.
