Édgar Ramírez to face off Dwayne Johnson in Disney's "Jungle Cruise"

Édgar Ramírez is set to play the villain in Disney's "Jungle Cruise".

19 Apr – Disney has found its villain for its movie adaptation of its popular Disney Parks ride, "Jungle Cruise".

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Venezuelan-born actor Édgar Ramírez is setting sail as one of the villains in Disney's latest attempt to turn its theme park to a movie franchise à la "Pirates Of The Caribbean".

The Emmy Award nominated actor will join Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt, and Jack Whitehall in this action adventure which revolves around a boat crew on an expedition to find a mystical tree believed to possess healing powers.

Ramírez, who most recently appeared in Netflix's "Bright", will play a conquistador on a mission to stop his enemies from acquiring said tree.

The movie will head into production later next month with Jaume Collet-Serra on board as director. After finding great success in turning "Pirates Of The Caribbean" into a movie franchise, Disney has been trying to adapt more of their Disney Parks theme park rides with "Tomorrowland" being the most recent one.

However the George Clooney and Britt Robertson starring movie was met with mixed reviews and grossed only USD209 million against its USD190 million production budget.
