6 Jul – The "Fast and Furious" spinoff focused on Hobbs and Shaw is moving full speed ahead, recently adding another big name to its cast. Idris Elba is in final negotiations to star in the movie as the antagonist that the titular duo will be going up against, Variety reported. Once the deal is sealed, the English actor will officially join Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Jason Statham, who are starring as Diplomatic Security Service agent Luke Hobbs and assassin Deckard Shaw respectively, in the spinoff. There was no name revealed yet for Elba's villain character. Despite hitting some speed bumps along the way (their co-stars weren't exactly supportive of the spinoff), the Johnson-Statham-starrer, titled "Hobbs and Shaw", seems to be cruising along just fine. Aside from slowly building up its cast, it has also nabbed "Deadpool 2" director David Leitch as helmer and set a North American release date of 2 August 2019. Production is scheduled to begin this September. Elba, whose recent movies include "Avengers: Infinity War", "Thor: Ragnarok" and "Molly's Game", also made his directorial debut this year with "Yardie". He is currently working on a comedy TV series, "Turn Up Charlie".
