15 Jan – Before "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2" even hit cinemas last year, it was already confirmed that James Gunn will be returning to direct the third instalment in the "Guardians of the Galaxy" franchise. Now there's a date to go along with that bit of good news. When the director invited fans to ask him anything on Twitter recently, one user asked: "Is there going to be a "Guardians of the Galaxy 3"?" To which the director replied:

"Coming in 2020", Gunn said, a short but sweet confirmation to fans who have been waiting for the next follow-up. Gunn has been with the "Guardians of the Galaxy" franchise since the first movie was released in 2014, which he followed up with the second instalment last year.
It is speculated that the third instalment will be released either on 1 May, 7 August or 1 November in 2020, the dates that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige have locked in for Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movies for that year. 2020 won't be long in coming as fans will have the following MCU movies to entertain them before then: "Black Panther", "Avengers: Infinity War", and "Ant-Man and the Wasp" in 2018, followed by "Captain Marvel", the fourth "Avengers" movie, and the "Spider-Man: Homecoming" sequel in 2019.
