Reese Witherspoon going pink again for "Legally Blonde 3"

Reese Witherspoon is going very, very pink again for the third movie.

5 Jun – It's been 15 years since the last "Legally Blonde" movie hit the big screen and now a third movie is in the making with Reese Witherspoon back to star.

Witherspoon is close to sealing a deal with MGM for "Legally Blonde 3", Deadline reports, where she will be reprising her role as the pink-loving Elle Woods.

The plot is still kept under wraps but it is known that Kirsten "Kiwi" Smith and Karen McCullah, who penned the original 2001 movie's script based on the Amanda Brown novel, are in final talks to write the upcoming third movie's script.

The project is still looking for a director.

"Legally Blonde", the movie that kickstarted the franchise, was received positively by audiences and critics alike when it was released 17 years ago.

It follows Witherspoon's Woods, a sorority queen who followed her ex-boyfriend to law school, hoping to earn a law degree to win him back after he dumped her.

The successful movie spawned a sequel, the not-as-well-received "Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde", in 2003 and an even-more-badly-received direct-to-DVD spinoff, "Legally Blondes" starring twin sisters Camilla and Rebecca Rosso, in 2009.
