27 Jun – Hong Kong actress Stephy Tang has recently been announced as this year's recipient of the Screen International Rising Star Asia Award at the 17th New York Asian Film Festival (NYAFF).

As reported on Screen Daily, the actress, whose movie "The Empty Hands" will be screened at the upcoming event, will be accepting the award at the festival, which will be running from 29 June to 15 July.

In the movie, directed by Chapman To, Stephy stars as a young woman who steps back into the karate ring after the death of her estranged father and karate master.

According to Samuel Jamier, the Executive Director of NYAFF, "At a time when Hong Kong cinema is reinventing itself and finding a new maturity, we're excited to award an actress who has also reinvented herself.
