14 Mar - A total of 42 movies will be competing at the 30th Malaysia Film Festival, or more commonly known as Festival Filem Malaysia ke-30 (FFM 30), that is set to take place this 30 March.

This year's edition will see 24 categories in competition and three categories not in competition, which are the Behind-the-Scenes Award, the Lifetime Achievement Award and the Box Office film award.

FFM 30 director Abdul Khalid Maulod revealed that all the films picked for the competition categories will also be competing for the major awards such as Best Film, Best Director and more.

"This year we received a total of 42 movies from various genres and languages, 25 of which are Malay language films, eight Mandarin films, seven Tamil films and two Cantonese films," said the FFM 30 director at the press conference held recently at Dorsett Hartamas, KL.

He added that this edition will also feature a little change, whereby the Top 5 nominees for each category will be announced prior to the awards ceremony, as opposed to on the evening of the ceremony itself as was done previously.

Among the movies that will be vying for the awards this year are "Munafik 2", "Hantu Kak Limah", "KL Special Force", "Polis Evo 2", "One Two Jaga", "Papa Come Home", "Neeyum Naanum", "The Kid From The Big Apple 2: Before We Forget" and more.

The FFM 30 awards ceremony will be held at Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC).
