14 Oct – "Wonder Woman" star Gal Gadot has another empowering role lined up for her acting resume, as she's been announced to star as the title character in the Holocaust drama, "Irena Sendler". Deadline brought word that aside from starring, the 34-year-old will also be producing the movie alongside her husband, Jaron Varsano, under their newly formed production company Pilot Wave. "As producers, we want to help bring stories that have inspired us to life," Gadot and Varsano said. "Pilot Wave will create content that promotes the perspectives and experiences of unique people and produce impactful stories aimed at igniting the imagination." In the fact-based historical thriller "Irena Sendler", Gadot will play the eponymous woman who takes a defiant stand against Nazi Germany's occupation of Poland. Irena also develops an incredible network in order to save and care for 2500 Jewish children from the Warsaw ghetto. When Irena gets arrested by the Gestapo during the height of the war, she has to race against time to save herself as well as the hidden thousands, who will face certain execution once their identities are exposed. Apart from "Irena Sendler", Gadot and Varsano's Pilot Wave is also producing several other projects including Showtime's limited series "Hedy Lamarr", which also stars Gadot as the title character, and "My Dearest Fidel", which is also eyeing Gadot for a lead role. Before any of these, Gadot will first reprise her role as Wonder Woman in the upcoming sequel, "Wonder Woman 1984", opening in cinemas in 2020. She will also star in next year's "Death on the Nile" and alongside Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds in "Red Notice". (Photo source: Gal Gadot's Instagram)
