27 Jul – Jenny from the block sure is cementing her stardom in Hollywood. Not content with just being a successful actress and singer, Jennifer Lopez is now eyeing a potential directing role in her next movie. The 50-year-old might be making her directorial debut with "The Godmother", according to The Hollywood Reporter. It will be based on the life of Colombian drug lord Griselda Blanco, whom Lopez will be starring as in the movie, which follows the notorious drug lord's journey to becoming a key figurehead in Miami's drug trade wars despite coming from an impoverished childhood in Colombia. "I've been forever fascinated by the story of Griselda Blanco and jumped at the chance to play her onscreen. She is all the things we look for in storytelling and dynamic characters - notorious, ambitious, conniving, chilling," said Lopez. Apart from starring, she will also be producing the movie alongside Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, Benny Medina and Julie Yorn. Terence Winter – who penned the script with Regina Corrado – will serve as executive producer along with Alex Pettyfer, Alex Brown and Rick Yorn. At the moment, there is no release date set for "The Godmother", but Lopez can be seen on the big screen soon in this year's "Hustlers".
