9 Nov – Rumour has it that Leon Lai has exited the delayed film project, "Old Men". As reported on Epoch Times, the actor, who signed on to star in the movie alongside Louis Koo, Simon Yam, and Eddie Cheung, reportedly had an agreement with the production that he was to be paid in advance before shooting started, but still received none in the few days before he was ready to begin filming. It was because of that reason that Leon allegedly decided to cancel the co-operation. However, when asked about it, the actor's assistant denied that he has signed anything, though admitted that they were approached by the studio. "We decided not to do the movie in the end. There was no loss suffered," the assistant added. It is noted that the film has been facing some issues concerning its production. It was originally announced back in June 2017 as part of a collaboration between Pearl River Film Group, Leqi Films and Dexi Films, and was set to begin filming in October the same year. However, both Leqi Films and Pearl River decided to withdraw soon after, causing investment issues that halted filming for the first time. After several efforts in getting investment, the movie was ready to start production again in Shenzhen. However, it faced another financial setback that caused another halt. (Photo source: Timable)
