Mark Wahlberg's long-delayed movie sets "Bumblebee" helmer as director

Mark Wahlberg's "The Six Billion Dollar Man" is moving forward with a new director.

17 Apr - Since the movie adaptation of "The Six Billion Dollar Man" was announced in late 2014, only one thing remains certain, that is Mark Wahlberg will be starring in it.

Not so certain, however, is who will be directing.

Now Variety brought word that finally another director has stepped in for the part and it is none other than "Bumblebee" helmer, Travis Knight.

Previously, Argentine filmmaker Damian Szifron, who directed the Oscar-nominated "Wild Tales", was in charge but after working on the movie for three years, he was let go in May 2018 due to "creative differences".

It is not yet known whether Knight will be picking up where Szifron left off or, most likely, he will start the project from scratch.

"The Six Billion Dollar Man" will star Wahlberg as a former astronaut who turns into a powerful cyborg after receiving bionic implants and now works as a secret agent for the government.

The character was originally played by Lee Majors in "The Six Million Dollar Man", the sci-fi TV series that the movie is based on, which in turn was based on the novel "Cyborg" by Martin Caidin. The series ran for five seasons from 1973 to 1978.
