Next two "Mission: Impossible" release dates confirmed

Release dates for the next two "Mission: Impossible" movies have been confirmed.

4 Feb - Just last month it was announced that there would be two more upcoming "Mission: Impossible" movies. While the release years were revealed, the exact release dates weren't.

Now, Deadline brings word that Paramount Pictures has booked two summer release dates for the movies.

The seventh and eighth instalments of the "Mission: Impossible" franchise will be shot back-to-back but will open in cinemas about a year apart from each other.

"Mission: Impossible 7" (both movies have no set title at the moment) will open in North American cinemas on 23 July 2021 while "Mission: Impossible 8" is slated for release on 5 August 2022.

As was previously reported, Tom Cruise will be back to star in both movies under the direction of returning helmer Christopher McQuarrie, who is also penning the script. McQuarrie's return was no surprise as he has proven himself with the successes of 2015's "Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation" and 2018's "Mission: Impossible Fallout", which he also wrote and directed.

Before Tom Cruise returns as Ethan Hunt, he will first be seen on the big screen as Maverick in June 2020's "Top Gun: Maverick", another Paramount title which he is currently filming.
