"Power Rangers" gets rebooted again, to feature all-new cast

Sorry fans of (L-R) RJ Cyler, Dacre Montgomery, Becky G, Ludi Lin and Naomi Scott,
these guys won't be back for the new "Power Rangers" reboot.

16 Dec – Lionsgate had high hopes for its 2017 "Power Rangers" reboot, even planning for more sequels than "Avatar" before the movie was even released. Unfortunately, all hopes to see the movie's five sequels were dashed when it barely broke even at the box office.

But fans who are still rooting for more "Power Rangers" big screen adaptations, you're in luck because yet another reboot is currently in the making.

Variety brought word that Jonathan Entwistle, creator of Netflix's "The End Of The F***ing World", is in early talks with Paramount Pictures to develop the new reboot.

Patrick Burleigh, writer of 2018's "Ant-Man and the Wasp" and 2020's "Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway", will be penning the script.

This time the reboot is being produced under Paramount, who acquired the rights recently, and Hasbro, who Saban Brands sold the franchise and other entertainment assets to in 2018 to a tune of USD522 million in cash and stock.

As this is a new reboot under a completely new production, don't expect to see the same cast from the 2017 movie reprising their roles. Dacre Montgomery, who starred as the Red Ranger, revealed last July that even though there was a new movie in the works, it will no longer feature him and his fellow cast members Naomi Scott, RJ Cyler, Becky G and Ludi Lin.
