Second Golden Horse Awards win for Yeo Yann Yann


Yeo Yann Yann wins the award for her starring role in "Wet Season".

25 Nov – Malaysian actress Yeo Yann Yann recently won Best Actress at the 56th Golden Horse Awards, making it her second Golden Horse win in her acting career.

As reported on Focus Taiwan, the actress, who bested other contenders including fellow Malaysian actress Angelica Lee and Taiwanese actress Gingle Wang, won for her role in Singaporean drama film "Wet Season".

The Anthony Chen-directed movie follows her as Chinese language teacher Ling, whose life and career are falling apart, and the teacher's unlikely friendship with a student.

Thanking the organiser and the cast and crew of the said film, Yeo expressed, "I remember when I was a little girl, I always wanted to be the little girl inside the television and today I am very grateful."

Prior to her Best Actress win, Yeo won Best Supporting Actress in the 2013 edition of Golden Horse Awards for her role in another Anthony Chen-helmed title, "Ilo Ilo".

Earlier last month, Yeo was named Fei Mu Best Actress at the 3rd Pingyao International Film Festival for her starring role in "Wet Season". The film recently opened for the 30th Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF), where Yeo also received the Inspiring Woman in Film Award.
