9 Apr - According to Dwayne Johnson, "Our "Shazam!" is the #1 movie in the world." So, of course, it's getting a sequel! The Wrap reported that writer Henry Gayden will be returning to pen the follow-up screenplay. Coming up with the script for the second movie probably won't be quite a task for Gayden, as he did write the first movie as well, penning his screenplay based on the story by Darren Lemke and himself. Director David F. Sandberg and producer Peter Safran are expected to team up once again for the sequel. "Shazam!", starring Zachary Levi as the titular superhero, opened at number one in both domestic and foreign markets last weekend and has so far collected USD159.1 million worldwide. Not bad for a superhero movie made on a USD98 million budget. Now why is Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson getting so excited when he's not even in the movie? Well, you'd remember that he was originally cast to play the villain Black Adam in it but that didn't pan out. Don't worry, you'll still get your The Rock dose when he debuts his Black Adam character in a solo DCEU movie, which the actor is expected to begin filming next year.
