Taika Waititi in talks to act in a DC movie again

"Thor: Ragnarok" director, Taika Waititi, might be making his second DC movie appearance.

28 Aug – Before making a big splash over at Marvel with "Thor: Ragnarok", Taika Waititi's first superhero work was at DC, and it seems like he'll stepping back in there as an actor once again.

Deadline brings word that the New Zealand actor-director is in talks for a role in "The Suicide Squad", which is being directed and written by "Guardians of the Galaxy" helmer James Gunn.

No details on the role have been revealed so far, so it is unknown whether it'll be a central character or just a quick cameo from Waititi.

Looks like fans might only have the answer when a table reading is held on 11 September. Among those who are expected are returning stars Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Viola Davis (Amanda Waller), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flag) and new members David Dastmalchian (Polka-Dot Man), Daniela Melchior (Ratcatcher), Flula Borg, Steve Agee (King Shark), Idris Elba and Nathan Fillion – the latter two whose roles remain undisclosed.

Production on "The Suicide Squad" is scheduled to begin from the 23rd next month, ensuring that there'll be no rush to produce it as the movie will only open in North American cinemas on 6 August 2021.

Waititi's first appearance in a DC superhero movie was in 2011's "Green Lantern", playing the character Thomas Kalmaku.

He's currently promoting "Jojo Rabbit", in which he plays Adolf Hitler, and is gearing up to direct "Next Goal Wins", before starting production on the Natalie Portman-led "Thor: Love and Thunder" early next year.
