25 Feb – The annual Le French Festival (LFF) will return for its 19th edition in Malaysia this March until April 2020. A press conference was held earlier today at GSC Mid Valley to announce LFF 2020's exciting lineup, which includes 17 movies to be screened at selected GSC cinemas throughout the festival. "Le French Festival makes you travel all around the world," said H.E. Frédéric Laplanche, Ambassador of France to Malaysia, in his speech. "Along with our collaborators, we are determined to bring the appreciation of all that the French culture has to offer to greater heights here in Malaysia through this festival. It will make you travel through its selection of 17 recent movies showing the diversity of French creation in all genres: from Norway to Kirghizistan [Kyrgyzstan], with stops along the way in Venice, Tunis and, of course, France." "Selfie", "Spread Your Wings", "The Royal Exchange", "Conviction", "Someone, Somewhere" and "In the Name of the Land" are among the titles of various genres that will be screened. Filmmakers Claire Burger and Nathan Ambrosioni, helmers of "Real Love" and "Paper Flags" respectively, which are also part of the movie lineup, will be stopping by Malaysia on 20 March for talk sessions regarding their films.
Aside from the film portion of the festival, LFF 2020 will also include various gastronomy, musical and art activities. Among these is famed French photographer Roger Kasparian's exhibition, "The Eyes of the Sixties", which showcases photos he took during the 1960s of stars such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Edith Piaf and Serge Gainsbourg. Malaysian celebrity chef Anis Nabilah is also named this year's LFF esteemed guest and 'Friend of the Festival'. Even though she was unable to grace this morning's event, she said via a video message that she was honoured to be part of the festival. LFF 2020 will take place in Kuala Lumpur from 19 March to 5 April. Throughout April, LFF 2020 will be held in three other cities in Malaysia, namely Penang (9 – 19 April), Johor Bahru (16 – 19 April) and Kota Kinabalu (23 – 26 April). Tickets for the movies will be made available from 12 March 2020.
