28 Feb – Ben Affleck has had some up and downs in his long Hollywood career, fans either hate him (think Batfleck) or love him in his starring roles. His portrayal of the title character in "The Accountant" was so good, though, that it warranted his return for a sequel.

However, it's been almost four years since news of him reprising the role was announced and yet, there's been no further update on the movie, until now.

The actor recently told Collider that there's a possibility the sequel will not be a movie, as it might be turned into a TV series instead.

"We've talked about it. There seems to be a debate whether or not to do a TV series version of it. The scriptwriter [Bill Dubuque] has become quite successful and busy, so he's off doing his thing.

"And somebody said to me, 'Well if we could find a script that we could retrofit and make into a sequel... But that's sort of tricky because the personality of the character is so specific, that doesn't really work to just say, 'Well, we used call this script Action Movie Shootout, and now we're going to call it The Accountant 2'."

He did say that he'll be happy to reunite with director Gavin O'Connor for a feature sequel but wouldn't mind a TV series.

"And if they want to produce a TV show version of it and I get some royalties, well that's great too," he added with a laugh.

In the 2016's action thriller, Affleck stars as Christian Wolff, a forensic accountant with high-functioning autism who uncooks the books of criminal and terrorist organisations. He takes on a legitimate client as the Treasury Department's Crime Enforcement Division closes in on him, but as he draws closer to the truth, body count starts to rise.

While it's no "The Accountant 2", Affleck and O'Connor have reunited for another movie, "The Way Back", which opens in North America next month.
