3 Feb – Out of the nine categories it was nominated in at the recently concluded British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs), "1917" walked away victorious with seven wins in total, including the coveted Best Film award. The Sam Mendes-helmed World War I film, which was last month named the Producers Guild of America Award for Best Theatrical Motion Picture and Golden Globes' Best Motion Picture in Drama, also nabbed the award for Outstanding British Film at this year's BAFTAs. Held at London's Royal Albert Hall, the second big winner of the evening was "Joker". Its three wins include a best actor accolade for Joaquin Phoenix for his starring role in the movie. Meanwhile, Andy Serkis, whose ski accident didn't hinder him from attending the ceremony, appeared with crutches to accept his Contribution to Cinema award in person.
