29 Jan – A new exhibitor by the name of Cinehouse has entered the local cinema industry, making its debut at One City Skypark. A joint effort by Lomo Pictures and Sunstrong Entertainment, the first Cinehouse cinema has 12 cinema halls and a total of 1,068 seats, with plans of more cinemas to be opened nationwide. It takes over Premium-X Cinemas, a cinema chain that was previously housed in One City Skypark and was officially closed on 30 June 2019. The highlight of the One City Skypark cinema is the unveiling of the "Malaysia Hall", where all local productions will be given an unbiased two-week screening period in said hall with the motto being; "the movie will run even with one audience".
The motive behind the initiative is to support the local and independent film industry by providing filmmakers with a dependable screening platform, thus encouraging moviegoers to easily catch and support said films by watching them. This falls in line with Lomo Pictures and Sunstrong Entertainment's long-term plans, where they plan to penetrate the local film industry in all filmmaking aspects; production, distribution, cinema operations and more. Aside from more cinema locations, what the public can expect from Cinehouse next, is a VR (Virtual Reality) cinema that is said to give moviegoers a new viewing experience.
