23 Apr – There's another streaming service launching soon, rounding up the three major VOD services that are launching this year. HBO Max, a new streaming service from WarnerMedia that combines HBO with Warner Bros. movies and Turner TV shows, is set to launch in the U.S. this 27 May. According to The Verge, the service will be offered at USD14.99 a month and include original titles that are exclusive to it, such as Anna Kendrick's "Love Life" and YouTuber LaurDIY's "Craftopia". There's also a special "Friends" reunion show planned but since all productions have been halted at the moment due to the current pandemic, these originals might not make it in time for the May launch and will only be released later on. Nevertheless, even without the HBO Max originals, the streaming service already has an extensive collection of content courtesy of WarnerMedia's older and new titles as well as all the shows and movies that are available on HBO. HBO Max, which is said to have 10,000 hours of "premium content", will definitely offer more than HBO GO. Though so far it is unknown yet when and if HBO Max will launch in Asia. Meanwhile, HBO Now, which is only available in the U.S., will offer HBO Max to its direct billing subscribers for free. As mentioned above, aside from HBO Max, there are two other major streaming platforms for 2020. Quibi was launched earlier this month while NBCUniversal's Peacock will launch in July.
