15 Dec – About half a month away from entering the new year, Warner Bros. has decided to reshuffle its release schedule yet again. This spells good news for fans of "Tom and Jerry" and Chloe Grace Moretz, as the Moretz-starring live-action hybrid film based on the eponymous animated series now has a slightly earlier release date. According to Deadline, "Tom and Jerry" has been moved from its 5 March 2021 North American release and will now open on 26 February 2021. Not so good news for "Mortal Kombat" fans, however. The James Wan-produced movie will no longer open on 15 January 2021. Reportedly, it has yet to finish filming, forcing its release to be rescheduled to16 April 2021. It takes over the spot previously set for "Reminiscence", which stars Hugh Jackman, Rebecca Ferguson and Daniel Wu. Currently, the sci-fi film, also a feature directorial debut for "Westworld" co-creator Lisa Joy, has no new release date. As was announced by Warner Bros. recently, all its 2021 titles will receive simultaneous theatrical and HBO Max releases. This new hybrid platform will kick off with the release of "Wonder Woman 1984" this Christmas day in the US. In territories where HBO Max is not available, the movies will be released in cinemas as per the norm. It remains to be seen whether the studio will stick to the new release strategy, as it has received backlash from Hollywood filmmakers and film exhibitors following its announcement.
