Submission date for FFM 31 extended to Friday

24 Feb – As the organiser for the 31st Malaysia Film Festival, or Filem Festival Malaysia ke-31 (FFM 31), the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) has agreed to extend the submission date for the festival to this Friday, 28 February.

The announcement was made via FINAS' official Facebook, to allow more local movies to be submitted for the five competing categories, which are Feature Film, Documentary Film, Animated Feature Film, Short Film and Digital Film.

Previously, Rozita Waty Ridzuan, a member of FFM's jury selection committee, revealed at the press conference for FFM 31 at FINAS Hulu Kelang that a total of 32 categories will be in competition this year.

Among these are Best Feature Film, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Screenplay, Best Original Story and for the first time, Best Makeup.

Aside from that, there will also be non-competition categories which include Behind-the-Scenes Award, Lifetime Achievement Award, Special Jury Award and Box Office Film Award.

Under the theme 'Inspirasi Sinemaku: Tanpa Sempadan' (My Cinema Inspiration: Without Borders), the FFM 31 awards ceremony is scheduled to be held this 18 April at Encore Melaka.

In related news, FINAS yesterday held the closing ceremony for its YouTube workshop (Bengkel Asas Penerbitan Kandungan Digital YouTube) at MITEC, Kuala Lumpur.

The workshop was organised to assist the younger generation in honing their skills and knowledge on content production for YouTube.

The ceremony was attended by FINAS Chairman Datuk Hans Isaac FINAS CEO Ahmad Idham Ahmad Nadzri, FINAS Chairman Datuk Hans Isaac and FINAS board member Andrew Tai Wui Charng.
