1 May – It was in September 2015 that news broke about an animated feature spinoff being developed for the "Transformers" franchise. Fast forward to present day, the project finally has a director attached to it and it is none other than Josh Cooley, according to Deadline. Cooley made his feature directorial debut with "Toy Story 4", which nabbed the Best Animated Feature accolade at the recent 92nd Academy Awards, and is following it up with the upcoming "Transformers" animated film. As previously reported, the movie is set in the Autobots and Decepticons' home planet, Cybertron, and focuses on the relationship between Optimus Prime and Megatron. Cooley is overseeing a final draft now with scriptwriters Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari ("Ant-Man", "Ant-Man & The Wasp"), who have been working on the project since it was first announced a few years back. Though there's no title yet, the animated film is said to be separate from the previous live-action "Transformers" and "Bumblebee" movies.
