17 Dec – The long-awaited follow-up to 2017's "Wonder Woman" is finally here! Well, for some territories. "Wonder Woman 1984" officially opens today in several international markets, such as Malaysia and Singapore, a week ahead of its Christmas day release in North American cinemas. Dubai was also among the lucky cities that get to watch the movie this week. As per What's On Dubai's report, it premiered at Reel Cinemas in The Dubai Mall yesterday evening. In conjunction with the movie's release, Reel Cinemas partnered with Burj Khalifa to illuminate the tower with images from the movie. Star Gal Gadot, who plays the titular superhero, was ecstatic to see her movie illuminating the world's tallest building. So much so that she shared a video of it on her Instagram, captioned, "This is unreal! #WW84 covering the Burj Khalifa tower in Dubai."

The tower's official Instagram also shared the excitement by posting a similar video, captioned "#BurjKhalifa lights up in celebration of the release of Wonder Woman 1984 in cinemas on December 17", and reminded fans to catch the movie in cinemas. The upcoming release of "Wonder Woman 1984" in the US and other territories with HBO Max will mark Warner Bros.' first attempt at releasing a movie simultaneously in cinemas and on the streaming platform. Though this has been met with criticism from Hollywood, at the moment the studio is still moving forward with the hybrid release which will apply on all its upcoming 2021 titles.
