7 Apr – Fans who are excited about the upcoming sequel to the hit 2002 "Aankhen" will be sad to find out that lead actor Amitabh Bachchan has opted out from the project.

Bachchan, who was slated to join the cast of the Abhinay Deo movie, reportedly withdrew from the project alongside co-star Sidharth Malhotra following the long delay between the time they signed the contract to the production of the movie itself.

A source claimed, "In the past two months, there was little progress on the impending schedule. Since the film was taking longer than expected to go on floors, Mr. Bachchan and Sidharth could no longer put their other projects on hold and graciously bowed out of the movie. Sidharth will be tied up for the next few months with "Mission Majnu" and "Thank God" while Mr. Bachchan started shooting for "Goodbye"."

Sidharth Malhotra also had to bow out due to other work commitments.

It is noted that the veteran star has also recently signed on to star in the remake of the 2015 Hollywood movie, "The Intern" alongside Deepika Padukone. He is also set to promote another one of his new movies, "Chehre" - co-starring Emraan Hashmi and Krystle D'souza.

The 2002 "Aankhen" stars Bachchan as a fired bank employee who decides to take vengeance against his employers by organising a full-on heist, and having the same bank robbed by three blind men, as no one will suspect them.

Bachchan's upcoming movie to be released soon

Bachchan previously starred in the 2002 film alongside Akshay Kumar and Arjun Rampal.

Amitabh Bachchan shared a teaser poster of "The Intern" on his social media.
