5 Aug – After much anticipation, it was reported that Ben Affleck will finally be donning his Batsuit again next month. The news was revealed by The Wrap's Umberto Gonzalez, who tweeted on 4 August, "Little nugget for y'all. Ben Affleck reports to set to suit up again as Batman on #TheFlashMovie in September." Affleck will be joining Michael Keaton, who will reprise his role as the 1989 version of Batman from the Tim Burton movie, as well as lead actor Ezra Miller, who will reprise his "Justice League" role.
The film, which is helmed by Andy Muschietti of "It" and "Mama" fame, will be based on the time-travelling comics arc "Flashpoint", that sees Barry Allen/The Flash disrupting the future by going back in time. In a previous interview with Vanity Fair, Muschietti stated that Affleck's Batman is a substantial part of the project. "The interaction and relationship between Barry and Affleck's Wayne will bring an emotional level that we haven't seen before. It's Barry's movie, it's Barry's story, but their characters are more related than we think. They both lost their mothers to murder, and that's one of the emotional vessels of the movie. That's where the Affleck Batman kicks in." Ezra Miller first debuted as Barry Allen a.k.a. the Flash in cameo roles in 2016's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and "Suicide Squad", before starring in 2017's "Justice League" and Zack Snyder's "Justice League" (2021).
