21 Apr –There will be a movie about the Mattel tabletop boxing game Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots, and Vin Diesel is set to star in the lead. The toy company is working together with Universal to bring to life the said game, with Ryan Engle - known for the Dwayne Johnson-starrer "Rampage" - penning the screenplay. No news as to what the plotline will be about, though Diesel is also set to produce the said movie.
It is noted that Mattel is currently working on several live-action adaptations of its popular games and toys, including Barbie, Barney, Hot Wheels, and - weirdly enough - the Magic 8 Ball. Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots is a two-player action toy and game featuring two duelling robot boxers, Red Rocker and Blue Bomber, mechanically manipulated by the players. The game is simple: you win when you knock the head off of the opponent. Designed by Marvin Glass and Associates and first manufactured by the Marx toy company in 1964, Mattel features physically smaller robots when it came out with the 2000s version. On the other hand, Diesel will begin promoting "F9" - the ninth film of the "Fast and Furious" franchise. He is also set to star in "Thor: Love and Thunder", as well as the upcoming "Avatar" movies.
