22 Jun – Joaquin Phoenix and real life partner Rooney Mara are set to work together yet again in the upcoming Lynne Ramsay movie, "Polaris". The news was confirmed by Ramsay herself, stating that she will be reuniting with Phoenix for the second time since directing the "Joker" star in the 2017 thriller movie, "You Were Never Really Here". However, she gave no further information about the upcoming project. "He's crazy, but he's the best actor I've ever met," said Ramsay in an interview with El Espanol. "Everything he does on the set has a reason. It's much more difficult when you come up with an original idea like this, but it's impossible not to get excited when you're preparing a movie with Joaquin."
It is noted that Phoenix and Mara have not worked together since 2018's "Mary Magdalene", which was also among Mara's last screened project. The two first worked together in the 2012 movie, "Her" and later the 2018 comedy-drama, "Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far on Foot".
Mara is set to appear in Guillermo del Toro's upcoming movie, "Nightmare Alley", while Phoenix has been working on several projects including Ari Aster's "Disappointment Blvd." and Ridley Scott's "Kitbag". He is also reportedly in talks to return as Joker in the sequel to the 2019 movie, for which he won a Best Actor Oscar. The couple welcomed their first child back in September last year, a son they named River after Phoenix's late brother.
