1 Sep – It looks like we really are going to have a sequel to "Jungle Cruise". It was recently confirmed that the Disney adventure flick will be having movie number 2, with both its lead actors Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt returning as the wisecracking skipper Frank Wolff and researcher Dr Lily Houghton. Michael Green, who co-wrote the movie, will also be writing the second film, with Jaume Collet-Serra expected to return in the director's seat.
It is noted that the movie made a huge profit for Disney both in its theatrical release and its simultaneous Disney+ Premier Access viewing, making a box office total of USD 187 million worldwide. The movie also had a high audience score on the movie review site, Rotten Tomatoes, which really excited Johnson as he revealed on Instagram, "Just blown away. Thank you!!! Highest Rotten Tomatoes audience score of my entire career, and that's a long ass time cause I'm a dinosaur. Jumanji 87%, Jumanji 2 87%, Hobbs 88%, Moana 89%, JUNGLE CRUISE 94%! People have spoken!" Prior to the news, Johnson had earlier hinted of a sequel, revealing in a tweet that he was going to have a meeting about a sequel. Johnson will be seen next in "Red Notice", and is also working with Blunt again in the upcoming film "Ball And Chain".
