7 Jan – The fourth edition of the Malaysia International Film Festival (MIFFest) will be held virtually in partnership with curated movie streaming platform MUBI beginning 15th till 21st January.

Viewers in Malaysia will have the opportunity to receive free access to the festival program on MUBI for a 30 day trial by visiting mubi.com/miffest.

MIFFest was initially scheduled to be held last December, but was postponed due to COVID-19. The MIFFest organisers are enthused to hold the prestigious film festival as a virtual event instead of on-site to ensure the wellbeing of the audiences and the festival team.

Amongst the Southeast Asian films that will be screened are: "Malu" by Malaysia auteur Edmund Yeo, which premiered at the 2020 Tokyo International Film Festival, "Many Chickens, Lots of Luck" (Indonesia), "Cleaners" (Philippines), "The Long Walk" (from Laos and was selected at the 2019 Venice Film Festival and the 2020 International Film Festival Rotterdam), "John Denver Trending" (Philippines) and Malaysian director Jacky Yeap's debut feature "Sometime Sometime" which premiered at the 2020 Shanghai International Film Festival.

Other films include "Just 6.5" (Iran); "Summer Knight" (China) and "Light for the Youth" (South Korea).

The MIFFest program will be added to MUBI's existing collection of hand-picked cinema from Malaysia, Southeast Asia, and the rest of the world. Specially curated for an audience of movie lovers, MUBI is the world's biggest community of film fans with over 10 million members around the world and is available to watch in 190 countries. MUBI presents a new movie every day, including recent exclusive premieres of Emir Ezwan's thrilling box office hit "Roh" and Khairil M. Bahar's moving tale of self discovery, "Kickflip".

MUBI Members can stream or download on any screen or device and there are zero interruptions or distractions from ads at any time, ever. Subscription plans are RM10 per month (mubi.com) and a Student Membership is only RM6 per month (mubi.com/student).
